Short version: Rundom collects your GPS location only while you are actively running in the app. Your data is stored on your device. If you use the optional global map feature, territory data (GPS paths and your chosen username) is stored on Firebase (Google). We never sell your data.
Rundom ("we", "our", or "us") is a location-based running game developed and operated as an independent application. The app is available at rundom-app.pages.dev and distributed via the Google Play Store.
This Privacy Policy is governed by and compliant with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
| Data | When collected | Why |
|---|---|---|
| GPS / Location | Only while the app is open and you have pressed START | To record your running route and create territory polygons |
| Username | When you first open the app (you choose it yourself) | To label your territories on the map |
| Territory data | Each time you complete a run | GPS path, area, distance, duration — used to draw your territory |
| Anonymous player ID | On first launch (randomly generated) | To distinguish your territories from other users' in multiplayer |
| Run statistics | Each time you complete a run | Distance, time, pace — displayed in your personal stats |
We do not collect: real name, email address, phone number, payment information, contacts, photos, or any other personal data beyond what is listed above.
Location data is collected only in the foreground — the app does not track your location when closed or running in the background.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the game.
Local storage (your device): All run records, achievements, and settings are stored in your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device and is never sent anywhere unless you use the global map feature.
Firebase (remote, optional): If the global territory map feature is enabled, your territory GPS paths, username, and anonymous player ID are stored in Google Firebase Realtime Database. This data remains until you clear your records in the app or request deletion.
Deletion: You can delete all locally stored data at any time via Settings → Clear All Records in the app. To request deletion of Firebase data, contact us (see Section 10).
Rundom uses the following third-party services:
